Minor Surgical Procedures & Dermatological Care

Minor surgical procedures are generally minimally invasive and only need small incisions. Dr Gaffoor can conduct minor surgical procedures in the comfort of his rooms, so you can save on hospital costs while getting premium treatment.

Some of the more common procedures Dr Gaffoor performs at his practice include the following:

Removal of Foreign Objects

This is a fairly standard procedure performed to remove items from the body. Falls, accidents, and fights can result in an object lodged into the body. Depending on the circumstance, these objects can be anything from weapons to toys. Dr Gaffoor has experience in Emergency Medicine and was taught by some of the top emergency physicians in the country. Therefore, he is uniquely suited to assist with removing foreign objects.

Debridement

During debridement, Dr Gaffoor will clean, treat and remove infected or dead tissue in the body. This procedure is typically done to treat diabetic lesions, but it’s also performed for a wide range of other wounds.

Biopsy

A biopsy is a procedure which is done to explore and assess tissue. Dr Gaffoor will remove a small portion of tissue from the body and then send it to a lab to test it for abnormalities. Biopsies effectively test for the presence of cancers, infections and other diseases.

Sutures

Sutures are usually placed to close an open wound. They’re considered a minor surgical procedure because Dr Gaffoor has to apply surgical techniques to place them correctly and leave as little scarring as possible.

Incision and Drainage of Abscesses

Abscesses are generally caused by bacterial infections and result in a painful collection of pus under the skin - which usually appears as a swollen, inflamed lump. The abscess needs to be drained and treated to relieve the pain and discomfort. Dr Gaffoor will apply a local anaesthetic and cut into the abscess, allowing the pus and debris to drain. He will then clean the incision and cover it with a dressing.
