Flu Vaccinations

More commonly known as the flu, Influenza is a potentially severe disease that can sometimes lead to hospitalization and even death. The flu season is different every year, and the flu can affect people differently. Still, millions of people get the flu every year, and thousands of people are hospitalized.

The flu can mean a couple of days of feeling unwell and missing work, or it can result in a more severe illness. Some flu complications can include bacterial pneumonia, sinus infections, ear infections, and worsening chronic conditions like diabetes, congestive heart failure, and asthma. Getting a flu vaccination is the best way to protect yourself against the flu.

Dr Gaffoor can administer seasonal vaccinations for the flu from the comfort of his friendly practice. He recommends that every family member receives a flu vaccine once a year - as the virus that causes the flu mutates and changes quite quickly compared to other viruses.

Flu vaccines produce antibodies about two weeks after vaccination. These antibodies will protect you against the infection. The vaccine contains a small amount of the flu virus, so when it is injected into your body, your body can defend against the virus, which will protect you if you reencounter it.
